This one’s for the younger me wearing Levi 511’s and Vans Half Cabs getting roasted for my pants being tight (the same people started wearing skinnies a year later 😂).

Chaining day.

I’m now represented by Fela. Vince said it’s a new arc, Rock Lee weights off type shit, iykyk.

Japan was amazing. I have way too many photos to ever share (I took over 3000 between my phone and camera).

My favorite memory was book shopping in Jinbocho and bonding with the guy working at the shop (see slide 2 for us flexing, ignore the dyspigmentation on my skin, I recently developed allergies) and him giving me a free Yohji lookbook because of how much of a relationship we built in such a short time.
After leaving, I noticed he forgot to put the book in my bag, by this point we were maybe four or five blocks away and I couldn’t decide if it made sense to go back. It was free, I didn’t want to seem like I was begging/desperate and I could definitely live without it. Ultimately, a very definitive wave of emotions came over me that told me to go back, I didn’t know why but it said to just go. 
As I’m walking back towards the shop, splitting through the crowds of people on the street, my focus shifts back to the storefront and there he was, book in hand, pacing in and out of the sunlight searching for me just like I was searching for him. I was shocked because there were tons of people shopping book store and as you can see in the first image above, tons of books. I didn’t think he’d be as concerned about giving it to me as I was about getting it (in the sense of, I was one of 100’s of people, who cares?).
We hugged and expressed how happy we were to see each other and how happy we were to meet again. I took a few photos to commemorate our reunion (lol) and then met back up with Chiara and Wanze and told them what had happened.
It was a such a pure moment, to share this exchange with someone I’d spent 40 mins of my life with and quite possibly may never see again was something I’ll never forget. 

Also- Naoshima is beautiful. I miss living in the same city as Fred. I miss Tomo.

‘Painting in Parallel’ on view at Holt Renfrew locations across Canada for the month of February.

Any project I do revolving around a father and son dynamic is special to me, my father passed away when I was 14 and I often imagine what it would be like to know him as an adult and what our relationship would have grown in to. I hoped to make this piece feel intimate and allow viewers to feel like they’d been given private access to a day in the studio as Kareem and Roger recount their experiences and reflect on how far they’ve come.
